Genetically modified organisms: friends or enemies?
Keywords:
Ggenetically modified organisms, Regulation, BiosafetyAbstract
Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are living organisms whose genetic information has been altered through biotechnological techniques. Although these organisms raise social concerns, scientific evidence indicates that they pose no significant risks to human health when properly regulated. Mexico, as an agriculturally dependent country, has a comprehensive legal framework for the safe use of GMOs, aligned with international agreements such as the Cartagena Protocol. This article examines the distinction between GMOs and transgenic organisms, their potential benefits, social concerns, and the legal context surrounding their use.
