Abstract

Avocado oil, extracted from the fruit’s pulp, has emerged as a valuable ally against aging. Rich in monounsaturated fatty acids, vitamin E, and carotenoids like lutein, this «green gold» possesses powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. At the cellular level, it combats oxidative stress and free radicals, key agents of biological deterioration. Its benefits extend to skin health, improving hydration and elasticity; to the brain, with potential cognitive protection; and to the heart, optimizing the lipid profile. Its consumption, raw or with minimal cooking, as well as its topical use, is recommended. While not a magic solution, its inclusion in a balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle makes it a key component for a healthy aging.

Melvin David Flores Muñoz , Facultad de Químico Farmacobiología, Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo. Morelia, Michoacán, México.

Melvin David Flores Muñoz is a talented student at the Facultad de Químico Farmacobiología at the  Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo, who stands out for his dedication to innovative scientific research. He is currently developing his degree thesis, where he investigates the impact of avocado oil fractions on the longevity of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. This pioneering work explores the antioxidant and anti-aging effects of these compounds at the cellular level, potentially contributing to advances in the understanding of biological mechanisms for a healthier and longer life. With a rigorous and promising approach.

Christian Cortés Rojo, Instituto de Investigaciones Químico-Biológicas, Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo. Morelia, Michoacán, México.

Dr. Christian Cortés Rojo is a Full Professor at the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolas de Hidalgo, member of the Sistema Nacional de Investigadores (Nivel II). He has been a pioneer in demonstrating that avocado oil improves mitochondrial oxidative stress, resulting in an improvement in diabetes and blood pressure in hypertension. He has published various articles in journals indexed in the JCR and directed numerous theses.
