REDD+ experiences in Mexico

Various initiatives and policies have joined forces to combat forest loss and climate change caused by global deforestation. The purpose of this document is to analyze the implementation of the international REDD+ (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) mechanism in Mexico, to reflect on the importance of articulating regulatory frameworks with politicians based on social dynamics, highlighting their main challenges and successful experiences. The main findings invite analysis of the alignment of regulatory and political frameworks with social dynamics through actions of inclusion and respect for human rights. It was concluded that REDD+ has had success stories in Mexico that should be strengthened and replicated elsewhere.
