Abstract

Have you ever wondered what is behind a simple blink? Looking into our environment isn’t as simple as we usually think, the vision requires the communication of a lot of parts of our body, which together form what we call visual system. The vision can be divided into 3 stages: optical, in which the light travels through the eye; chemical, where the light is converted into electric impulses and neurological where the images are created in the brain. The welfare of each part of our visual system can be triggered by unhealthy habits like an unbalanced diet and the lack of physical activity, leading to the development of diverse diseases that can decrease the quality of our vision or even lead to blindness. Acknowledging the ones that help you look around day by day will help you understand why it is so important to take care of them.
